What is customs clearance?

Regulated in 2002, by Federal Decree 4,543/2002customs clearance is the process that releases the entry of goods purchased abroad into Brazilian territory. In the import process, customs clearance is one of the last steps, because when it is carried out, it indicates that the operation has already been completed for the federal government.

This procedure consists of verifying the documents and data that were declared by the exporter. The purpose of the verification is to confirm that the import is following the Brazilian legislation. If everything is in order, customs clearance records that the verification has been carried out and completed and the goods are released.
